I got this (from the store) originally based on the "plumper" claim. At first I was disappointed to find it didn't work like the instant plumpling lip balms and glosses. However, I stuck with it because it's a very nice, clean feeling lip balm. After half a tube of daily use my lips seem a little fuller, but it's hard to tell. That said, I love this as a moisturizer. My lips don't get "addicted" like with Chapstick brand or Carmex and it's very soothing if I do get chapped lips. Good stuff. Sadly, my local stores stopped carrying it, so I'll be buying it online for as long as I can find it.

I picked this up because I had seen it a few times in store and thought it looked interesting. The packaging is really nice, I'll give it that, but it's more like a lip balm than a plumper. I don't notice any effect at all when I wear this and there isn't even a hint of the sting or tingle that standard plumpers have. As a lip balm it's fine, it has a very slick feeling, so if you don't like thick balms you'll probably like this.

I have always had pretty weak nails. I used for last few months Nailtiques Formula 2 and it really made my nails stronger and longer and I was pretty happy with it but then my bottle got empty and I (foolishly) decided to try something else. Nutra Nail hard as wraps had (when I placed my order ) single 5 star review so I thought it must be good. I should have done more research. After I already placed my order I did review search on a drugstore webpage and there star numbers were very different. Two and a half stars from 16 people total. So before you buy it do some more research then just what this webpage offers.

Here are my pros and cons.

My Nailtiques Formula 2 was in the same price range and had 0.5 fl oz. NutraNail hard as wraps only has 0.17 fl oz. and with just 4 layers 1/3 of the bottle is gone.

It doesn't really do anything for the nail itself like other strengthers do. You put a layer on your nail, then add activator layer and between the two of them it hardens and becomes like a milder version of artifical nail.

You cant remove it with regular polish remover. You have to have artificial nail remover. Which I had to buy thank you very much.

it is very difficult to apply. You have to clean the brush with brush cleanser liquid they give you and that alone is not enough. I kept dipping my brush in it and it didnt cleanse it well enogh, it became very hard and unusable. I had to use another brush and dipped it into cleanser and then rubbed it on the back of my hand to make sure everything comes off. How stupid was that? two minutes later the back of my hand was covered with hard layer I couldnt get off any other way but using metal footscrubber. So you better make sure you have a sheet of paper at hand when you start applying it.

-it smells very much like one of those superglues that can glue your fingers together if you are not careful. In fact I wouldnt be surprised if thats the base of it. This and the fact you have to use fake nail remover to get it off makes me worried what will happen with your nails if you use it long term.

it doesn't apply on evenly. I feel the bumps and ridges on almost every nail.

-some of my nails dried very fast while others were sticky for hours. Tho I did tried to apply the activator as fast as possible. Go figure.

it started chipping pretty fast.

All in all I think Im gonna go back to Formula 2. I want my OWN nail to be healthy and long not just to be under protective shell. And when some people say that indeed Hard as wraps can make your nail grow longer with just few weeks then of course, if you have a glue or fake nails over your own nails, of course they will grow long but what shape are they in? Ive heard enough cases when people who use fake nails end up with their own nails looking yellow and soft as porridge. No thank you.

The bottom line is with other strenghtners (those that work) your nails will be strong even if you remove strengtner for a week or so. But when you remove hard as wraps in the best case scenario, it stays the same as it was before you put it on (meaning-weak) and in worst case scenario it will be worse then it was before (artifical nail effect).

I was constantly frustrated by my nail growth. I was never able to achieve growth past my finger tip due to brittleness from typing, cleaning and general mishaps. Almost every nail would inevitably start to crack, chip or split. I'm not one to get constant manicures and they only seemed to weaken my nails further.

The first time I tried Nutra Nail, I was amazed. This product is fantastic and one of the very few that actually does what they advertise. Your nails really will be "hard as wraps". After just one week of using this product I noticed substantial nail growth. Now after only 3 weeks, my nails are longer than they have ever been in my life! I have reapplied the product once a week since I started as I really do abuse my nails. However, if you are more careful with your nails, you probably won't need to reapply as often. The product also says you can reapply another coat without removing the original. I have always completely removed the product before reapplying. I definitely recommend using two coats every time. It is much stronger.

The only thing you need to remember is to follow the directions cautiously. Basically, you need to apply the gel, then apply an activator. However, you must remember to constantly clean the activator brush (with the included brush cleaner) before you put it back into the activator bottle. I sped my way through the process the first time and on the fifth nail accidentally put the used brush directly back into the activator. That pretty much ruined the product. Nevertheless, the directions are very explicit and even include troubleshooting tips.

They say you can also apply polish underneath Nutra Nail or on top of it. I have not tried this yet, but the product is thin enough that I don't see that being a problem...as long as you first let it dry thoroughly.

This was an impulse buy from Rite Aid so I didn't have the benefit of reading any reviews before purchasing. This is just like a DIY gel nails kit minus the fake tips. It was nigh on impossible to get this stuff to go on smooth without bumps or ridges, and I found that even with three coats on they cracked after just one and a half days. I'm not that active a person and certainly wasn't doing anything rough enough to warrant them cracking so soon after applying. All in all a waste of ten bucks. I won't bother with it again.

I have very hard nails but they are extremely bumpy and have ridges. With polish on it was very noticeable.

I had gels for years and stopped a couple of years ago for financial reasons. Gels totally hid any nail imperfection.

I thought I would try this as an at home gel kit. It really does work! I love my nails now. You do have to make sure to clean the brush between each activator application.

I accidentally put the brush from the activator in the gel bottle and it ruined the whole bottle so I was back at the store buying a new kit.

I also had problems with it not being smooth after the nails dried. I took an emory board and smoothed the nails with that and it worked perfectly. Now my nails look totally natural and smooth! That was my goal.

I only gave it 4 stars because of how bumpy your nail gets after each application. But I do love this product and will keep using it.

Let me just say, I work at the store that sells these and I was very excited to try it as I love to do my nails. I love Sally Hansen nail strips, I use them all the time. When the GEL strips came out with this little LED lamp, I was intrigued. Let me also point out, the store I work at sells this item for quite a bit less than what I see here on Amazon. I also need to add that the gel refills for this kit sell for five dollars more than the regular Sally Hansen polish strips. Onto the actual review:

The kit comes with the mini LED lamp, 16 gel polish strips (more on this later), a bottle of the gel top coat and the nail cleanser pads. If you have ever used polish strips, you apply these in the same way you normally would. Apply them all to your fingers then begin with the gel polish. Just apply the top coat to one finger and put it under the lamp. The lamp is easy to use, just plug it in and when you are ready, put 1 finger under the light and press the button. It stays on 30 seconds, turns off when the 30 seconds are up. Do this for each finger. After the light, the gel polish is dry, though if you touch it you will feel a stickiness. Wipe your nail with the cleanser pads to remove the stickiness and you are done. It is very easy to use and comes out looking very pretty. I did notice the strips for this kit are thicker than are the non-"gel" strips Sally Hansen makes. I did not like this, and sure enough, being too thick they start to come up at the edges after a couple days. In fact, the kit has a very involved process of soaking your nails in remover to get them off. All I had to do was get my fingernail under the raised edges and peel each off in one go. Very odd. Also, I had major chips after the first day of normal wear. Over all, the process was easy as pie, but I was still unhappy with the overall results.

This got me thinking, I wonder if I can use the regular Sally Hansen nail strips with this LED lamp, which I already love and are five dollars cheaper than these "gel" strips. Both strips seem identical except how I mentioned the gel strips were thicker. I had plenty of the normal strips laying about, so I tried it.

I did the exact same process with the lamp. There is enough gel polish in the started kit to use more than once (which is weird b/c if you buy the refill pack which is good for 1 use [again, more on this later] there is a whole new bottle of the gel polish). To get rid of that stickiness that I mentioned I just wiped each finger with a wet wipe. You can also use an alcohol pad if you have them b/c that's all the nail cleanser pads are, essentially. It looked great and the process was just as easy. I am on day 4 of this manicure and NO CHIPS and only slight wear at the tips. I have gotten multiple compliments at work. My overall impression? This kit is a glorified TOP COAT! And I really like it. :)

I think you can use whatever you like and just treat it like a gel top coat kit. Don't buy the more expensive refill kits. Use the regular strips. My next experiment? Regular nail polish.

Onto my little secret about these strip kits. Each kit comes with 16 strips, and with 10 fingers, that is a 1 time use. With as awesome as these little strips are, a 1 time use per kit is pretty expensive. I keep my nails short. The strips are pretty long. When I apply the first strip, I file it off, peel off the silver tab from the top part, TURN IT AROUND and apply the other side of the same strip to the same nail on the opposite hand. If that makes sense, you can use HALF the strips this way, and get two uses out of each refill kit. :) Good luck! I hope you all give this kit a try!

I tried Sally Hansen Insta-gel strips for the first time, and I followed the directions explicitly. The process was easy enough, and they do dry instantly after using the UV light, which is nice. However, less than 24 hours later two of my nails have already chipped. For this reason, this system is not worth the $14 it costs for the strips each time you want to do your nails. For that price you might as well go to the salon and get a manicure done. I also do not like that you basically have to soak your fingernails in acetone nail polish remover to take the polish off, which I understand is true of all gel polishes, but its just not what I feel like doing since I just did my nails last night. I do not recommend this and I will not be purchasing again.

I'm a big fan of the standard Sally Hansen Salon Effects strips. I use them all the time and routinely get 10 days of wear from a set. So, I expected great things from this product.

I was very, very wrong. The strips included don't adhere nearly as well as the standard ones. And they sure don't wear even 1/10th as well.

I followed the directions to the letter. Within hours, 2 nails had chips--and all I did was sit on the sofa and read. Within 1 day, the strips peeled completely off 3 nails while I was washing my hands.

What an utter waste of time and money. If Amazon had allowed, I'd have given this product 0 stars.

I just purchased this kit in a retail store today. It was on clearance for $13.99, and I thought I would give it a try. I prepared my nails per the directions, followed the application directions, and they seemed to set beautifully. Except that now, three hours later, they are peeling off and chipping all over the place. I haven't done much since I put this stuff on (I washed my hands once, ran the vacuum in one room, and did some typing). I am extremely disappointed. If this won't hold up to light work, it surely won't hold up under my normal working conditions. This was a perfect waste of money and time. The stickers were terribly frustrating to apply, and I thought, perhaps, proper gel polish might work better. I doubt I'll give this a second try.

Overall impression: Lasts slightly longer than a regular mani, but nothing like a real gel one.

Pros: Easy to do, especially if you aren't good with clean lines. Looks nice while it lasts. Easier to remove than a real gel manicure. Not messy. Price. If your nails aren't too long, you can actually use 1 strip on two nails.

Cons: LED has a short and doesn't stay on. Peels slightly about a week in. CAN chip, even with a few top coats.

I think this is an instance of "You get what you pay for". I would have given them 3 stars (maybe even 4), but the lamp doesn't stay on consistently. This is a real problem since you can only put one finger in at a time. You can fix the peeling by filing it a bit and applying another clear coat. However, the chipping (which isn't terribly frequent) just is what it is.

I loved this color. It's shinier and more coppery than the photo shows. Very pretty, easy to apply. They are a bit flimsier than the Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips, which is good and bad. It made them easier to apply but also more susceptible to damage.

I highly suggest using a clear top coat. They still only last about a week, not the 7-10 days as advertised, but I can't imagine them lasting more than 5 minutes without a top coat.

The reasons for the 3 stars are because of the aforementioned flimsiness but also because of the price. By the time you add shipping, it's a bit steep for something that lasts a week at most. I'd be much more likely to buy these more often if they were offered through Prime.

My hair has been all over bleached for a few months now. It is fine, naturally curly, and thick, in a graduated chin length bob. It was very dry and frayed at the ends. I use the Cut it Out design and get compliments constantly from friends, neighbors, family, total strangers. Mine don't quite last 10 days but I work with dogs so my nails are getting nipped a lot. The key to application is stretching the strip over the top of the nail once it is adhered at the base of the nail. The first time I tried to put these on I didn't do that and they didn't last a day. Something about stretching them slightly makes them stick to the top part of the nail and will last longer. I tried to save the leftover strips to do a touch up on a few nails after about a week, but once the package is open the stickiness goes away. Still, a great look for the price and it's easier to do every time you do it.

These are really cute. They work pretty well but didn't last as long as the box says it will, even after I applied a top coat to protect it. I also don't like that once you've opened a set, whatever ones you did not use in the set will not be good the next time you go to use them. I'm going to see if covering the package up will help prevent them from hardening and becoming useless. Hopefully it helps... Other than that, they are really cute and I've gotten quiet a few comments about how cute my nails are.

I had a slightly difficult time applying the nails, but I think it is because I hadn't tried them out before. Once I got them on though I received a compliment at least once every public outing! Mine lasted looking great for about 5-6 days. Then they still looked fine, but I noticed the imperfections. Getting them off though is a pain, but that could be because I have cheap nail polish remover. You have to rub really hard and long to get them off with cheap nail polish remover. All in all though I prefer this over fake nails (because fake nails hurt if I bump them) and painting my nails (because painted nails chip within a day).

From the moment I saw these I wanted to try them. I have been plagued with nails that peel and could never do a decent manicure at home, but didn't want to spend a fortune at a salon.

I have tried Love Letters and Girl Flower and they are FANTASTIC.

First of all, the Salon Effects themselves almost act as a strengther/band-aid for weak nails. Then they are so easy to put on that you wish you had been doing this for YEARS!

One reviewer wrote that her polish started chipping after a few days...just put on a top coat and refresh it every few days.

Both my Love Letters manicure and Girl Flower lasted for 2 weeks each. I had to finally take off the polish simply because they had grown too far from the cuticle.

The only down side is that you will need to spend a lot more time removing the polish than with regular nail polish.

IT IS WORTH IT!

Hope this helps those of you who have been trying to decide about these!

Best Sally Hansen Gem Crush Nail Color, Glitz Gal, .33 fl oz Deals

So I am a big fan of the gem crush line but this color is the only one I find to be disappointing. In my opinion the formulation is very thin on this color. The color itself just looks muddy and not as glittering as the other shades in the line. In the bottle it looks pretty, it is grey microglitter with larger chunks of holographic silver glitter suspended in a clear base. But upon applying it, it just loses all of it's luster. I had high hopes thinking this would be a sophisticated color, but it just didn't seem on par with the others in this line. I would suggest skipping this particular one and grabbing one of the other gem crush instead.
