For some strange reason, the only time I care about my nails looking EXTRA good is for my trip to Las Vegas each year. I mean I care the rest of the year how they appear I certainly don't want everyone to see straggly-looking nails, but as long as they look reasonably good, I'm happy with just using clear nail polish applied once a week and that's it.

I had tried other nail strengtheners in the past -cheap products such as Sally Hansen -and pricier products such as TIPS and ProStrong. None of these worked as well as the OPI Nail Envy.

Nail Envy comes in a matte finish or natural finish (clear and shiny). I like the matte as it looks more natural. The natural finish is glossy and looks like a layer of glass on your nails.

Even though it is fairly thick when applied, it dries quickly. Nail Envy can be used as a base, a top coat or as a nail strengthener. However, if used as a nail strengthener, which I might say is the best product I've used, the results are not cumulative. Once you quit using it, your nails go back to the original brittle condition.

When used for strengthening, you must of course start out with clean dry nails. Two coats are required to start, and then every other day another coat is applied. At the end of the week you remove the Nail Envy and start over with the same routine. OPI "recommends" a non-acetone based polish remover, but I didn't have that type on hand so I used my regular acetone remover and it worked just as well. It doesn't require a lot of effort to obtain good results with this product.

I ordered this because I noticed when my un-polished nails grew long, they would bend in various ways because of how I used my fingers to press buttons, etc. I know polishing your nails with color also makes them stronger, but this transparent stuff is much less obvious when it gets chipped or scratched, so I don't have to worry about messing it up. I'd say it's doing a good job of helping my nails hold their natural shape no bending so far. I am also quite pleased with how it makes my nails look. It has a VERY faint white tint to it, which I think helps a little bit to even out blotchy colors in you nails (like purple or red). Other than that, it looks very natural. I think I will buy this again, although I'll go for the "shine" version next time.

One thing to consider (especially for men) is that although it says it's "matte," and it is certainly much less shiny than normal nail polish, it is not entirely "shine-less." It doesn't look very obvious that you have a product on your nails, but it does look like you've taken very good care of your nails. The level of shine is similar to what you'd get from a very thorough buffing (buffing is sanding your nails with a very fine grain so that they become smooth and a little shiny). If I saw a man wearing this product I probably would not think it looked "odd," it would just look like he took good care of his hands. So guys, buy it if you like, but beware you will look a tiny bit "pampered." :)

I purchased this about a month ago. I think I have tried every type of nail strengthener that is available all to no avail. This product not only has kept my nails from cracking and breaking but also helps me keep my nail polish from chipping for almost a week!! I have tried nail bases and overcoats when I polished my nails but none of them were very effective (no what I paid for them or their claims). I put on a couple of coats of this product, polish my nails (2-3 coats) and then put on a coat of nail envy. I may have to repolish a bit on the tips (depending on how roughly I am treating my nails but this keeps a manicure for a good week! I will never use another product except this.

I had suffered a vitamin deficiency that had left my nails soft and splitting all the way down to the quick. I got back on the RIGHT vitamins. Using this Nail Strengthener has returned and surpassed the hardness and strength of my nails (previously). This is VERY important to me as a guitar player who needs STRONG, Healthy nails when playing/plucking the strings with my fingers.

I can't say enough about Sally Hansen nail strips (and Incoco nail strips)! Finally, I can have painted nails! My nails are thin and any nail polish I used chipped within two days sometimes they chipped in less than one day. I bought these based on the reviews and I had very low expectations, I think because what works for most people's nails usually doesn't work for me.

Honestly, the first trial didn't go well. They chipped almost immediately around the edges, but it wasn't terribly noticeable because of the pattern. The rest of the polish stayed on nicely.

The second trial was much betterI learned how to smooth the edges better so no chips. After 7 applications, I thought I'd write a review it's FOR REAL!!!

WHAT I LIKE:

*Nails last at least 7 days (they probably last longer, but I have to keep my nails very short for my sport, so I have to change nail polish once a week)

*The patterns make my short nails look feminine

*They are instantly dry no waking up in the morning with smudges!!!

*They are affordable I get TWO applications from each box because my nails are short

THE DOWNSIDE:

*Taking the nail polish off is a process have plenty of nail polish remover on hand and patience, too.

*Putting the nail strips on takes longer than painting nails. (If you count dry-time the strips are faster than regular polish, but the application time is longer.)

SALLY HANSEN VS. INCOCO

*Sally Hansen's strips come in TWO separate pouches, so I can have two applications. Incoco's strips come in one pouch that can be resealed. Sometimes the second set can dry out and not work.

*Sally Hansen's strips are often available on Prime so you can get them faster (and cheaper) than Incoco's strips

*Incoco's big advantage is tasteful designs. Some are just gorgeous. I'm a 40+ woman and am not interested in skulls and tattoo art on my fingers. Most of Sally Hansen's patterns are targeted at teens. Incoco's designs are beautiful and more appropriate for women.

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION

*Make sure the room is WARM. I turn on a space heater.

*Once you have the polish in place, smooth it down well with your fingers.

*Make sure to smooth the tips well any rough edges will "catch" on fabric and chip

*Apply a clear top coat within 24 hours.

*Apply a second top coat after 3 or 4 days.

I bought this product half year before. I received it very quick and it was with a gift of lip graze. The product it self are not that excellent, the nail is hard to be colored equably. I am very pleased with this product. It has no leaks, works just like I want it to and is everything I expected and more out of Sally Hansen Products. I was also amazed at the really good price, compared to the ones you buy in the store!

I tried this product out when I got it and it works great! I have no problems with it whatsoever. The service from this seller was very prompt and on time. This is going to go really well with my nail art designing classes that I am currently taking. I noticed some people had problems with it breaking down or speckling on their nail polish, but I have not had that problem at all. Mine works great! I guess it just depends on the pen I guess. Some can be defective and some aren't. Mine definitely was not defective at all and I highly recommend this seller and product, if you like silver that is. The concept for this item is great, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The tip is very sharp, and while that would normally be a good thing for fine details, you're better off waiting at least a day after applying your base color, otherwise the tip will carve right into the polish and still not leave any of its own behind. The polish in the pen itself is quite watery, as well, which is good for smooth application, but unless you put a top coat on immediately, you can expect your art to come off with the first hand-washing. And even when you do apply a top coat, it breaks down the polish in the nail art and it ends up looking speckled. Overall, I really don't think this product was ready for mass production. There are still many kinks to be worked out. A big disappointment for people with very unsteady hands, like me, who need a tool like this to be more creative with their polish.

This is really more of a marker than a paint pen and even though we used it on top of nail polish like the directions said, the white one rubs off in a few hours and the silver one rubs off after about 2 days. Every time.

I thought this would be cool to make little designs on my nails, especially with the black nail polish I got. Not at all. The silver didn't show up well and you had to push on it against something quite a bit before you got any silver to come out. Was not happy at all with this product.

This product is amazing. Don't let the old name fool you. I bought just to have a clear polish and got much more than I bargained for. I put on two coats and undercoated under my nails. Then every day afterwards I put on one topcoat and undercoat. In 10 days my nails looked great. They were protected as I did dishes and other household chores hard on nails. I have soft and peeling nails that tear all the time. No more. My nails look even better than when I paid for scupts. Thank you Sally Hanson!!! I sing your praises. I don't know anything about nail strengtheners, but when I first started having chipping and peeling issues about a year ago, I didn't do anything about it. Unfortunately, the problem didn't clear up on it's own, and I put off finding anything to resolve my problem. Fortunately, when I went to the beauty aisle, this miracle in a bottle was available! I originally glanced past it because I figured the small price tag correlated with the quality. However, I took the time to read the reviews on Amazon and noticed people were having better results with this cheap polish than they were with the golden, sparkly, $20 bottle of polish! I took the plunge and I'm so happy I did. I have used the product for a little over one week, and I am amazed at how much better my nails are looking! I applied one thin coat a day for one week, and after the week, I removed the polish and started over. I have noticed my nails still peel slightly and have chipped twice, but the length of my nails are definitely improving. My only complaint is my nails are growing at significantly different speeds, so I don't have similar length-ed nails, but I'm sure that has more to do with my own nails than this product. I will definitely buy another bottle!

My nails are thin and they crack easily. Not only that, but I wash dishes and wash my hands so often, the water often makes them worse. However, I've found my little miracle when it comes to healthy nails. I've tried every other green tea nail polish out there, and every polish that claims it will make your nails grow... And Sally Hansen's Maximum Growth is the only one that's actually done what they say it will do. I redo my nails about every two weeks, and I always ALWAYS use one coat of this as a base coat and then proceed with whatever design I plan to do. This would have been my fourth bottle, if I didn't receive it broken in the mail. Amazon promptly refunded me though. But that will not stop me from purchasing it. I just need to buy it at the store like I've been doing.

I tried this when I ran out of my regular nail growth stuff, Rejuvacote. Results were disappointing! Didn't dry as quickly (you have to apply it every day), my nails started to chip (again) in a way they never did after I started using Rejuvacote. It also didn't cover up the ridges that have developed on the surface of my nails during the last few years (I'm 63). Too bad I used to like Sally Hansen, too...but not up to snuff.

Like other X-Treme Wear products, this polish is easy to use and incredibly long-lasting. My main issue with this particular product was the color. Deep Purple is the color of Grimace (from McDonald's fame) or Barney. It just is not an attractive color. The only times I've used it I have had to put a crackle overcoat on it to try and make the color more palatable.
