As a value-conscious consumer, I purchased the Sally Hansen French Manicure White Tip Pen hoping for a nice looking pedicure at home. What a disappointment! The polish comes out of the pen so thin that it runs down into the crevice where the nail meets the skin. I also tried applying the product over a coat of clear polish, and it looked just as bad, going on splotchy, like trying to write on a slick surface with a marker. Total waste of time and money!

At first, I hated it. Keep in mind, I had round, eggshell nails I kept VERY short. Once I actually started to grow my nails out...and filed them into a square shape...I LOVE it. When I don't have time to paint them but want them looking nice, I just do a tip and I'm good. It's SO much easier to apply with a square/squoval shape to your nail, vs round. Also, let your nails grow out a bit and try it again if you disliked it before. I found when I used it on my nails when they were short, they looked SO MUCH SHORTER because I could either a tiny, tiny tip...or make it thicker and sacrifice the rest of my nail.

My only dislike is that it chips VERY easily. I have my hands in water a lot, and I have to fix/re-apply every other day or so. If you don't have your hands in water often though, shouldn't be a huge problem.

To not use a base coat. I prepped my nails(clean, clip, file) then used one of those "high shine" nail buffers first to get everything smooth and shiny. After that I applied the pen, and then used a no chip top coat. Looks pretty great I think.

I tried using nail guides first in the orly manicure kit. It was a mess and they peeled the base coat off. This was easy to apply and looked fabulous except when it cracked the next morning ! Huge let-down

I tried this product when they used to sell it at Walgreens, as soon as I fell in love with it they stopped selling it. I can't seem to find a place anywhere who sells it. Its pain free and works really really well for something that looks like a sticker. I don't even get my eyebrows professionally done. I use these shapers above my brow and tweeze underneath. They make my eyebrows look perfect!

I think the idea is good, but I'm not so sure about the execution. I usually use Parissa mini eyebrow strips, which are great and easy to use (and are white and can be reused more than once), but I wanted to give something else a try and this seemed to be a good price for the amount that you get.

There are a few things I didn't care for about these strips such as them being hard to see when you're peeling them off their backing. I also didn't care for the size and shape of the lower portion, which seemed way too big (at least for me) when you have to contend with eyelashes, lid and all of the rest.

Lastly, once you use it, you're done as in no retries. This is a bit frustrating, since the adhesiveness of the strips themselves isn't all that great. Though I'm experienced with using similar strips and waxing in general, I found myself having to go through several extras just to get the job moderately done. Mind, this is with a dry yet freshly-cleaned, oil-free face and appropriate hair length.

Overall, I think this is good for beginners or for those who want a completely pain-free experience and don't mind giving it a few tries. I can say that it didn't hurt, there was no mess and the strips are pretty forgiving if you place things wrong. I found I liked the top portion more for its shaping purposes; however, I'm not sure this makes up for how many you have to go through or the shape and size of things alone at least in my opinion.

Shipment came quickly, too, I might add. :)

I have tried similar products in the past, but wasn't very satisfied. After reading the excellent reviews for this one, i gave it a try. I am disappointed. Even though it comes in precut shapes and is cold wax, it did not do a very good job on my eybrows. It left a lot of hairs. The shape of the precut wax strips isn't very good neither it didn't match my eybrows very well. My conclusion so far from my experience with at home wax products is that nothing does as good of a job as you get in a salon.

12/15/12: I did my nails with this one week ago, and my nails are still in perfect condition. I used it on Sunday, but Monday morning the polish peeled off of 3 nails when I took a shower. I had put too much polish on them, and it did not stick well (obviously) plus the polish kind of looked "bubbled" under the polish. Part of the polish came off, and I peeled off the rest. I cleaned the nail with some polish remover (given with the kit), and redid them, being careful to put thin even coats on. It worked perfectly fine, and all 10 nails have held up well since. I am brutal on my stuff wash dishes, dig plants, use my nails to scratch up stuff, etc, and the polish has stayed on for a week now. I bought this at Rite Aid, and am happy to see it available on Amazon too :). Hopefully more colors will be available soon! This is very easy to use and like normal nail polish. Recommendations from my experience: shake the heck out of the polish bottles, do 4 finger nails and then the thumb nail separately, use thin (but sufficient) coats, follow all steps. You need to use the top coat for it to get hard. If they do bubble and peel like mine did, it is very easy to redo.

I was uncertain about buying this there were some negative comments made on other websites about the polish coming off, etc. Regular polish really has about a 15 minute life expectancy on my nails before it's nicked or scuffed. And in a day, regular polish is chipping off I'm very hard on my nails.

Finally, after 2 weeks of pondering, I took the chance. I followed the directions (almost) exactly. MY mistake is that I missed removing a bit of old regular polish on one nail along the side. The old color is a bit darker and now it shows through. That was totally my mistake.

It's a step by step process. All the bottles are numbered 1-base, 2-polish and 3-top coat. Do one hand at a time. Remove old polish. Gently use file provided over nails. Use a cleaning wipe to remove any dust, etc. Shake all bottles well before you use them. Apply base coat and use lamp. Apply one THIN coat of polish and use lamp. Apply another THIN coat of polish and use lamp. Apply top coat and use lamp. Wipe top coat with cleaning wipe to remove any sticky residue. Do other hand. Ta Da!

Words of caution directions specifically state to make sure you don't have base, polish or top coat on your skin when you lamp them. I don't know why, but I did make sure.

It also gives instruction about removal, which I haven't done yet. It's a wet cotton ball and soak process. I read on a website that if you lightly scuff the top coat with a file, it will allow the remover to penetrate easier. Seems logical.

It's been 5 days now. Not a nick, scuff, scratch and they are very, very shiny. I am very pleased.

UPDATE: I lasted 7 days without a chip. On the 7th day, the polish started to lift slightly on one nail in the corner. I could have left it and it would have been fine, but I was anxious to try another color. Removal was done with cotton and foil (see youtube sally hansen video) and it was super easy. I'm on day 9 on my second application. One edge was a little worn, so I trimmed it back with a clipper everything still looks good. I think these could go the whole 14 days.

Just finished my nail with this starter kit about an hour ago, and this is my experience so far.

I bought the "wine not" color kit and the color on my nail is about 95% close to the color on the box. I like the shiny clean look it gives me compared to the traditional nail polish. I also like the fact that it will save me money in the long run compared to going to the salon every 2 weeks.

But here are the reasons why I hesitate to give 5 stars. Since the kit itself says "Salon Gel Polish," I expect to have salon quality finish. But I don't. It doesn't look as good as to the nail salon I been going to. It looks less shiny after I finished my last step which is to clean it with the nail cleanser pad. Also, as I wiped my nails with the cleanser pad I saw some red color on the pad which tells me that the color was not locked properly. Not sure why this happened. I followed the instruction carefully and even put my nails under the LED lamp twice as long as it recommended.

Overall is worth the money if I have to compare it to going to the salon. Is worth the investment if you want your nails to look good for two weeks without the worry of chipping. However, it takes about an hour to get them done which in my opinion is very time consuming.

Anyway, this is my experience with this product shortly after I applied it. I will update my reviews within 2 weeks if I see any changes.

This is my recent update about the product. Is the 10th day that I use this product on my finger and there is a big chip on my right thumb and a small chip on my right index finger. I can tell some of the gels are slightly peeling off at the corner of my other fingers. So compare to the gel manicure that I get in the salon, the Sally Hansen Gel kits does not last as long as the ones I get in the Salon. Still, I do get lots of compliment from my friends and hair stylist, therefore I am keeping my 4 stars for this product.

Here is a tip to safe some money from this product. Instead of buying the Nail Cleanser Pad refills (cost around $5.00 for 20pads) buy a bottle of the highest concentrate Isopropyl alcohol at your local pharmacy or retailers for about $1.70 a bottle and use it with a clean soft cotton cloth. This will replace the Nail Cleanser Pad and save you at least $20.00 or more in the long run. Also, in the nail salon I see them putting the alcohol in a spray bottle and spray them on the customers' finger and wipe them with soft cotton cloth.

The final result is great, however the lamp doesn't last long. I used it twice and half the lights have gone out. For 60 dollars I would think it would last at least until the kit emptied. Now I have half the lights and am holding my hands under the remaining three for like 3 or 4 sets of 30 seconds.

I wish Sally would explain that it is a one time use lamp. I figured you would be able to replace the lights.

So i have been waxing my underarms for years, used to use microwave wax but when we got rid of the microwave i started using Nads which works well but is more expensive so i thought i'd give this a go. I'm not sure what the trick is, i tried thin layers, thick layers, the crappy paper strips that it comes with, my own cloth strips, my underarms are red and sore, but still hairy. I KNOW how to wax, and i CAN'T get this stuff to work. Waste of my money and time (and pain).

I've used this gel on my legs. It took a month or so to get the hang out it, but by the time I got to the bottom of the jar I was confident that I had the technique down. I like this product because it's very similar to Nads, so similar that I took a bit on the tip of my finger and ate some (remember the advert for Nads, with the lady sticking her finger in the jar as a midnight snack? lolz don't eat it! But I live..) It's superior to Nads because it does not completely crystalize and become useless after a month. It stays the perfect consistency for as long as you keep it.

My secret technique: The strips it comes with are crap. Not only are they thin, but they are paper and are unyielding to the curves of your body. Cut strips of cloth (I cut both thick and thin a thin, old sheet or a piece of canvas) just make sure it's white or very light colors or else you'll have bespeckled legs. Then I put on a thick but even layer (just to completely cover the hairs) place the strip on and warm it up and down with my palm, make my skin taught and pull upwards fearlessly and without hesitance.

You might be able to place the strip over another section of hair, but it doesn't seem to mold and meld around the hairs like it does the first go. I find the second time to be spotty, you are better off just applying a fresh layer of gel and a new strip. You can simply rinse your homemade strips off , dry them and reuse them!

This is worth the money! I will be getting another gel to prepare for the summer!

I've used this product twice since I bought it the other day...I cannot get this product to work...I have been waxing for years...some of the other reviewers said it took a while to get the hang of it and maybe that is true, but it shouldn't be so hard! It really does wipe away nicely with warm water, which is great if you are attempting to wax your brows and misplace the wax...but I couldn't get the wax to take away more than a few hairs at a time on my legs, Ouch!

This gel is easy to clean up but the process is VERY tedious and you get VERY sticky in the process. You have to apply the gel JUST right in order to get results. In my opinion, it's just too much work... I don't have hours to spend practicing until I get it right. There are MUCH better products out there.

This gloss is no longer made by Sally Hansen. I imagine that it will not be sold anywhere once the stock runs out. It really makes your lips soft, and you don't have to reapply too often. The color is nice; adds shine and has just enough sparkle in it without making your lips too flashy.
